New Haven, Conn. - The No. 7 Stanford women's squash team dropped its first match of the weekend at top-ranked Princeton on Friday, Feb. 1, by an 8-1 decision.
Senior Kerrie Sample provided the lone victory for the Cardinal, defeating Princeton's Libby Eyre 3-1. Sample's win was the only the fifth individual loss surrendered by Princeton this season.
Fellow seniors Julie Koenig and Pamela Chua also played well, being narrowly edged in their matches 3-2 and 3-1, respectively.
Stanford will return to the court Saturday when it takes on No. 18 Brown and No. 12 Penn. It will be the second year in a row the Cardinal will play the two teams back-to-back. Stanford defeated No. 10 Brown (9-0) and fell to No. 4 Penn (3-6) in last year's meeting.
