STANFORD, Calif. - The Stanford sailing program boasted a pair of top six finishers on the men's side of the ICSA Singlehanded Championships for its best finish at the event since 2006. Hosted this past weekend by USC, the regatta held at the U.S. Sailing Center in Long Beach, Calif., saw Kieran Chung-Wolf and Oliver Toole post landmark performances for the program.

Chung-Wolf was third overall with 107 points as Oliver Toole (125) was sixth among the 18-person field.

"This was the deepest field I have ever seen at this regatta," Stanford head coach John Vandemoer said. "Both Kieran and Oliver sailed extremely well and were in the battle from start to finish. Kieran ended up holding off last year's champion for third and Oliver beat last year's runner up for sixth, and was very close to finishing fifth.

"To have both men in the top six is an amazing testament to our program's depth and talent. Realizing that both Kieran and Oliver will be back next season makes it that much better."

College of Charleston's Juan Maegli (37) won the event as Chris Barnard (61) of Georgetown finished second.

On the women's side, McKenzie Wilson (182) was 13th and Rebecca King (230) finished 14th overall.

"I was very proud of how the women stepped up to be the top two at our conference championships and then to compete really well at nationals," Vandemoer said. "Our starters are abroad this fall and Rebecca and McKenzie stepped up to represent Stanford very well. They learned a lot and took advantage of a great opportunity."

The Cardinal now looks ahead to the Pacific Coast Collegiate Conference Championship (Nov. 11-12) for the league's dinghy competition in Santa Barbara, Calif.
